Final project (Small town joints)
Living in a small rural community for the past three years has made me acutely aware of tiny details unique to small town culture. Instead of seeing McDonald’s on every corner I see small mom and pop restaurants that have been passed down from generation to generation. With their strong family history these small town joints not only give off a nostalgic feeling but they also bring a feeling of home and comfort.

professional plan - hunter clark
My professional plan is to become a successful businessman and do take pictures to hang up in my home to admire. As well as to have fun and not worry about photography making me money.

Artist Statement
My project is a re-photographic survey in Sanpete Valley,
UT. Defining a place in past and
present. I have taken old photos from the 1800’s and 1900’s and recreated approximate
image in a modern-day setting.
This project has brought new insight to my understanding of
place and the Sanpete Valley. I have always wondered what it was like living in
those days. I have learned that life was not easy, but people lived from what
earth gave them, and were able to build up Sanpete Valley into what it is
today. This project involved extensive research: history books, old newspapers,
meeting with city people and having them dig into their archives. The landscape has changed over time and places
that used to be there are no longer.
My hardest challenge has been the research and trying to
find the location of the events or places in the old photos. Trying to find the
right angle has been very difficult. I plan to keep expanding to this project
and get more information on some of these important events that has changed the
way we live today.
Some historical spots, roads, buildings and fields. It shows
how are Utah pioneers started out and what is there today.

Greenhouse. A biosphere. Taking the small parts from a larger landscape.
These photographs go one step further and take the small parts even smaller.
