"Standing Upon the Same Ground"

    When rummaging through all of my reference photos, I became partial to the images which contained people. Because these photos were taken from decades to over a century ago, I found it poignant that many of these individuals have lived out entire lifetimes and may have even become deceased. Because I had intentionally selected reference photos which I knew I could locate so I could recreate them, I was struck by how I was standing upon the same ground as these earlier generations. I was much more invested in observing how the places and landscapes of these images had developed over the years, hence the purpose of this project.
